Santa's Letters Have Arrived

Well I bet you will never guess what Santa left in my mailbox at school today after we had our visit with him? Give up?

Well, he left us all a return letter to the ones we wrote to him on Friday of last week.

I can't wait to see what he has to say, can you?

Christmas Dinner and Surprise Visit!

Today was an exciting day at school and is just the beginning of all the fun that is to come. We had a nice relaxing Christmas meal with all the trimmings today. I would like to thank all the servers, cafeteria staff and the parent volunteers who helped make it such a success.

Also we had a nice surprise visit from Santa himself and he passed out candy canes and we even got our picture taken with him. Thanks Santa for coming to see us, especially when you are so busy!

This year again we are communicating and learning about tulips, our friend's cultures and the weather through many different avenues. For example we have just sent our first pen pal letters to Texas and soon will be receiving one back.

Also through our SMARTboards we will be doing video conferencing and a live weather broadcast to and from Texas.

Up Coming Events!!

The Mango Walk has been going on for a few weeks now and the students enjoy every moment of it. It is fun, friendly and helps us all to stay a little bit more fit. All parents are welcome to come out even if it is once a month to walk with their children. It takes place every morning and only lasts for 15 minutes. So if you can find the time drop by the school in the morning for some fast paced, heart pumping exercise.

Our next skating trip to the Civic Center will be on Tuesday, Jan 29th from 9:00 to 9:50 am. The bus will be leaving the school at 8:40 am. So remember to bring your skates and helmet and some warm mitts and clothes. Everyone is encouraged to come and particpate as it is fun to have parents help out.

Finally, on Monday, Jan 28th there will be no school for students as the teachers will be at their Curriculum day learning lots of new information. Enjoy your day off!

In the News

We are back at school for a while now and with all our snow storms we have missed talking with our Texas pen pals. On Tuesday, Jan 22,2008 we finally had our newest web cam meeting with out friends. We were all very excited to find out that they just planted their tulips last week. Also they have mailed out their pen pal letters and their BIG self portraits which we will be eagerly awaiting to receive.

We are just waiting for one or two more students to finish up their pen pal letters and we will be mailing ours out soon. Next week we will be completing our final copy of our self portraits and then we will be sending them on their way to Texas as well.

Our weather reports have been a great success so far. We report on our weather in Canada each Tuesday with a different reporter broadcasting the changes for the week. Also Texas joins in on the action and they share their weather report in a live broadcast as well. This Tuesday past Noah was our weather reporter.
